Update on Species Diversity & Start of Descriptions

Further dissections indicate that I have five new species in addition to C. globulicollis, not four as previously thought. Larger-sized male specimens from La Selva and from Braulio Carrillo have distinctly shaped aedeagi with different internal sclerites. One of these species is C. globulicollis, although it is not yet apparent how my 10-12 specimens will align with eventual species limits. One of these two species appears to have females with a dimorphism in rostrum length. Also, two smaller specimens from Braulio Carrillo are apparently not conspecific with a similarly sized species from La Selva. The revised species list with informal names is therefore:

1. Cotithene globulicollis Voss - Turrialba (and either Braulio Carrillor or La Selva), larger species;
2. Cotithene sp. nov. 1 - La Selva (and other localities), smaller species;
3. Cotithene sp. nov. 2 - Braulio Carrillo, larger species (could be C. globulicollis, but then the La Selva specimens mentioned under 1. pertain to another species);
4. Cotithene sp. nov. 3 - Venezuela (blue elytra);
5. Cotithene sp. nov. 4 - Monteverde (blue elytra);
6. Cotithene sp. nov. 5 - Braulio Carrillo, smaller species.
