Initial Impressions

One day of preparing specimens has produced some new insights. In addition to the type species Cotithene globulicollis Voss, which was originally described based on males only (I have several presumably conspecific females collected with males from the same plants), there appear to be as many as five new species (current code names: "La Selva", "Monteverde", "Braulio Carrillo", "Venezuela", and "Brazil"). This assessment is made without microscope work or dissections. Two or three additional species are worth examining as they might pertain to the genus.
